CLAUDIA MOTA

PRINCIPAL DANCER WITH THEATRO MUNICIPAL RIO DE JANEIRO

Claudia Mota – PRINCIPAL DANCER WITH Theatro Municipal Rio de Janeiro

Team Zarely: When did you start ballet lessons?

Claudia Mota: I started Ballet at the age of four with Valeria Moreyra and at 8 I joined the State School of Dances Maria Olenewa, Official School of the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro.

Team Zarely: Did you decide to be a ballerina yourself or was it your parents’ decision?

Claudia Mota: I asked my mother to start ballet at the age of four, because I loved to dance with my friends who were already doing ballet classes.

Team Zarely: What do you think is the hardest part of being a dancer?

Claudia Mota: The most difficult part of being a ballerina are the pains and the degree to which we have to be professionals when hey appear. Sometimes they are pains that we can bear, other times we have to make decisions that are not always pleasant for us, like giving time for proper treatment. This really is almost unbearable. Waiting and lack of being on stage - days seem like years.

Team Zarely: If any of young dancer were to ask you for some advice. What would it be?

Claudia Mota: One piece of advice that I would give to young people would be this: Never give up on your dreams. A dancer's career is a lot of discipline and perseverance, as well as many obstacles. Sometimes we need to be in the right place at the right time, but we do not fail to work daily, because our body is our tool of work and not always the factor "luck", will be a good deal. We need to be in shape constantly, regardless of anything.

Team Zarely: What are you dreaming of?

Claudia Mota: Dreams are many. Some days I dream to be able to open a dance institute where I can receive great names of the world dance, to teach and to pass on to the children and young dancers the true spirit of dance. Nowadays dance has become very "acrobatic", I dream of being able to rescue it.

Team Zarely: What do you think is the main talent or ability for a ballet dancer?

Claudia Mota: The main talent of a dancer is what he carries in the heart ... I believe a lot in the artistic talent and this is what a dancer has of greater value. The public knows how to recognize a true artist, be it technically strong or not, what will really captivate the audience is how it dances.

Team Zarely: Do you have any hobbies?

Claudia Mota: I love drawing and customizing tutus... It's a hobby and also a way to make my own...

Team Zarely: Is there any sport activity you do in your free time? Like yoga, pilates, jogging etc.?

Claudia Mota: As physical activity, I often practice pilates and bodybuilding. I also like aqua power, bike and trampoline within water. These are great low impact exercises - perfect for dancers.
